Are bamboo straws reusable?

Yes! With the proper care you can use the straws for years! Bamboo is an eco plant can be used for many things.

Do bamboo straws mold?

Kawayan bamboo straws are cleaned inside and out to help ensure the stop of any possible molding. With a natural product like bamboo it can mold in humid environments or if it's in water for a constant period of time. The best way to prevent that is when a straws has been in a drink all day be sure to take it out and let it air dry.

Can bamboo straws go in the dishwasher?

No. We recommend for you to not put it in the dishwasher. The cleaning solution you put into your dishwasher is not good for bamboo. Your straws just likes a simple soapy water bath.

How are Kawayan Bamboo Straws made?

The Kawayan product is an extremely small production. The straws are typically cut down & crafted by just one person. In my Oklahoma backyard we have half an acre of bamboo growing naturally. We go outside and hand select the stalks we want to use. Then I cut in between each joint on the stalk creating the perfect straw. Then they are sanded to make sure there are no ruff edges. Next, they are laid out in the hot Oklahoma sun to dry out. Lastly I boil the straws in a water, vinegar, salt mixture to sanitize the bamboo.
